May 2012: The Fortune Tellers

18/05/2012

Not the laird in his tower or the industrialist in his mansion, nor the priest in the seminary could have guessed what Kilmahew would be like today. Our present was their future, once upon a time, and it was unknown to them.

And one day our present will have become someone else’s past. We spent the afternoon making and doodling on fortune tellers, speculating on future Kilmahews as, in months, years, decades, and centuries, it grew from wilderness to garden, and back again. We can’t predict the future, but our assumptions about it are what direct our actions now.
